eople love music. We use words like motivating, inspiring, breath-taking to describe music because it makes us feel different things. But listening to & hearing music is only one level. Experiencing it LIVE is a whole different experience.
Last week, talking to my assistant, she told me a story about her daughter. They had been to an air show for the first time and the closing act was an F-35 Lightning II Stealth Jet (which has supersonic capabilities, aka can achieve speeds faster than the speed of sound). Super cool. But when they announced that the pilot is a woman, her daughter’s eyes lit up and she shouted, “the pilot is a girl?!? I want to be a fighter pilot!” And suddenly, she believed she could do it too. Because for the first time she saw it live & could picture herself doing it too.
Experiencing live music does the same thing. It shows us, especially kids, that we can do it too. Seeing music live brings a whole new appreciation of the complexity and variety, and you never know what you and your child might hear that you didn’t even know you’d love!
When you add the how-to’s to the mix, the possibilities are endless!
With that in mind I’m sharing a few upcoming live, local, kid-friendly music events.
